How to Set Up Your SFTP/FTPS Connection to ECGrid

As of January 1, 2023: Loren Data no longer allows unencrypted "in the clear" FTP connections. Only encrypted SFTP and FTPS (implicit or explicit) connections are permitted.

SFTP/FTPS connectivity

ECGrid highly recommends SFTP (SSH FTP), which provides encryption and better TCP/IP handling.

All configuration and maintenance can be done directly in your ECGrid Portal.

Note: The My Connections tab connects your network and mailboxes to the Loren Data network — not your trading partners'. All connectivity information is listed at the top of the SFTP/FTPS page.

Activating your connection

Step-by-step activation

Select Activate — available in the top-right of the page or at the bottom.

SFTP: IP addresses do not need to be whitelisted — leave that section blank.

FTPS: You must list all connecting IP addresses on separate lines. Your current desktop IP is shown at the bottom of the page, but also include your communication server and firewall addresses.

Once activated, the Status field will change to ACTIVE.

Make changes at any time and select Save Changes at the bottom to apply.

You are ready to log in and begin trading immediately after activation.

Connection field reference

Host / Server

These URLs are used regardless of whether you connect via SFTP or FTPS.

Username

ECGrid strongly recommends using the provided username to help support staff assist you more easily. If you update it, note the 15-character limit.

Password

Can be changed at any time. Must include at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, one number, and one special character !@#$%^&*. Minimum 10 characters.

Certificate (SSH)

Optional. Use this field to provide your SSH certificate format.

Delete on Download

If your script deletes files itself, leave as No. Set to Yes to have ECGrid delete the file once it has been downloaded.

IP Addresses

Required for FTPS — list all connecting IPs on separate lines. Not required for SFTP. Include your communication server and firewall addresses in addition to your desktop IP.

Testing

After activation, test in both directions from the bottom of the page. Active IDs must be on your mailbox. Options: Test Download, Test Upload, and download a test file.
