How to Create a Carbon Copy

Modified on Fri, May 1 at 2:37 PM

What is a carbon copy?

The carbon copy feature delivers an electronic copy of a message to one or more recipients. Copies can be generated when you send or receive a message, and are configured per document type. Carbon copies replace the ISA and GS EDI IDs so documents route correctly to their respective mailboxes.

Inbound PO copy
3PL scenario

A 3PL wants a copy of an inbound purchase order from a specific trading partner routed to their system.

Invoice routing
Multi-system scenario

A copy of an invoice needs to go to another system in addition to the primary recipient.

Via Data Management

1
Select Data Management from the left-side navigation panel.
2
Select Carbon Copy.
3
Select +Create in the top-right corner.
4
Enter the requested fields in the drop-downs.
The GS From and GS To fields are for document matching only — they do not replace GS values in the X12 EDI. If your ISA and GS values are the same, leave these blank.
5
Select + Create Carbon Copy at the bottom.
6
Your carbon copy is created. View and filter all copies on the Carbon Copy page going forward.

SelectData Management, thenCarbon Copy.
Select+Createin the top-right corner.
Enter the requested fields.
Select+ Create Carbon Copy.

Pricing note: There is no extra fee for carbon copies. You will only be charged for the KCs in the extra file, per your contract.
